Chasing Luck-Review

Chasing Luck (Serendipity, #1)Chasing Luck by Brinda Berry
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Chasing Luck was a new kind of romance for me. It was not only about love but rebuilding and suspense. This book had the most heartbreaking opening I have read in a romance novel. The idea of one person being the lone survivor of a terrorist attack and then dealing with this survival daily is unfathomable.

Malerie is sent to leave with her uncle after her mother’s death and with this placement she learns to be more closed off, as her uncle (doesn’t intend to) but allows her to be a bit of a recluse. Her reclusiveness leads her to her love of music, knowledge, and technology. Malerie is able to have interactions in the world but be distant. Sadly, she is running from her past, but unbeknownst to her it is leading her to her future.

Ace is a man running from his past. To deal with his past he builds a secure life for others. He ideally has a hero’s complex. He wants to save people because in his past he could not save some.

She needs saving. He needs saving. A situation brings them together but it heal two people who need help saving each other.

The author keep the action moving at all times. There was never a dull moment. I ached for Malerie. She was literally Chasing her Luck, she just needs a win. To be in control and at ease with past events. And Ace was Chasing his Luck but it is Malerie. She is his Luck. She is want will bring him to be the man he can be.

The characters were exceptional. They were well developed and each served a defining purpose in the story that made me enjoy the development even more.

Hope you find your Luck in this book.

Happy Reading.
